Dishonored

If you can buy one game in 2012, it should be Dishonored. From production to its ingenious gameplay, Arkhane Studios' title is outstanding, with its multiple references to many games such as Deus Ex, Thief, Bioshock or Half Life 2. It's simple, Dishonored is a 2-in-1 game you can finish either with violence and lots of action sequences, or with discretion, applying stealth strategies to kill your enemies without being seen.

Hitman Absolution

The series is pretty much dead at this point. The Agent 47 character has been ruined. The gameplay has been ruined. It's very daunting. The absence of a quick save or even a proper working logical checkpoint system makes the game hugely frustrating and unplayable in my opinion unless you like to redo long parts of the game over and over. Ridiculous. Such a shame.

Need for Speed Most Wanted

I was hoping for a story game like the first one. What I got was a crappy knockoff that tossed everything cool about the first one and replaced it with garbage. There is no work to get the best cars. They are just given to you to pick up off the street. There is no sense of accomplishment or any story at all. It is just simply cool cars driving around in a city avoiding cops. This is the worst Need for Speed game i have ever played.

Assassin's Creed III

Assassin's Creed III may not be the sequel I hoped for, but it remains another solid entry in the time-bending franchise. The setting is a lot of fun to explore and the first half really works on a storytelling level. Unfortunately, the quality is thwarted by a weak villain, boring hero, and frustrating mission designs. Couple that with a disappointing ending and it's hard to be enthusiastic about Ubisoft's latest Assassin's Creed game.
